When artists, researchers and engineers meet together: the CREATRON

Abstract: The CREATRON, or Centre de Ressources Européen de l'Art de la Technologie et de la Recherche des Objets Numérique, was proposed by the Ars Mathematica association as a meeting place for artists, architects, designers, scientists, researchers and engineers who works in the field of "digital objects": 3D creation, 3D digitalisation (including heritage preservation) and motion capture, 3D printing, …both for virtual or physical projects: computer software's and display devices, as well as new interfaces, machines and materials; cybersculpture, computer animation, interactive art, Web 3D, aesthetic or archaeological virtual environments; digital design and mass customisation; digital signature, new files formats, copyright questions; etc. The CREATRON is welcomed in Nancy (Lorraine), and physically hosted by the ENSGSI.

Christian LAVIGNE, the co-founder of Ars Mathematica, association which proposes, since 1993, events, exhibitions and symposiums such as INTERSCULPT (computer sculpture world wide biennial) and the WEB CAST (Café des Arts des Sciences et des Techniques), will present a global survey of the use of CAD/CAM, RP and RM in art and cultural heritage, will introduce INTERSCULPT 2005 and the Digital Sculpture Competition, and will set out the CREATRON running and the coming activities.
